BANGABASI MORNING COLLEGE

Acharya Girish Chandra Bose, a revolutionary social activist founded Bangabasi College
in 1887. In the eyes of patriotic social service, Acharya Bose invested his all property to
make the college as a pioneer institution in the city of heart, Calcutta In became famous
within a short time and a huge member of students from Bihar, Orissa, Assam, Tripura
joined with the students of Bengal at Bangabasi Morning College.

Acharya Girish Chandra Bose, the founder father, had an extra ordinary sensitive mind for
the development of education. He used the ‘Slokes’ of Srimad Bhagavat Gita in the logo of
the college, He inscripted the famous line of Srimad Bhagavat Gita that – ”Pronipatena
Pariprosnena Sevaya”

The Great foundee father became popular for the right logo selection of the college.
Bangabasi College had a beautiful teaching staff, who were internationally famous
professor of the then Bengal live Dr. Pratap Chandra Chandra, Ladli Mohan Mitter,
Jagadish Gupta, Principal Prosanta Kumar Bose, Prof. Rajkumar Chakraborty etc. etc.

Many of the poor and Meritorious students took their shelter for Education in Bangabasi College.

The College became a valuable teaching institution of Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, Assam and Tripura upto the first world war.

A few Patriot students joined in the movement against the Lord Carzon’s the Separation of 
Bengal in 1905.

Isswar Chandra Vidyasagar (1820-1891) had a good communication with the family of foundee father and also the Bangabasi College. Rishi Sri Aurabinda Ghosh stayed her at a space of the Hostel of Bangabasi College. Kultar Sing, brother of Shahid E Azam Bhagat Singh and Martyrd Jatin Das were the asset of Bangabasi College.

Bangabasi College had a regular contribution for the independence movement. Our
students joined in Quit India movement 9th August, 1942 India became a sovereign independent state on and from 15th August 1947 and there after Bangabasi College faced a huge number of refugee students and also the College students
became more than Ten thousand (10,000).

Dr. Prasanta Kumar Bose Principal, had to lake a new system to get relief from the over load of the huge students. 

The college opened Morning and Evening section side by side of Bangabasi Day College, Bangabasi Morning College and Bangabasi Evening College were born from the world of mother Bangabasi College in 1965.
